Just think past this Ice wall exists a huge land mass larger than the US. Admiral Byrd quote. I still must wonder what sent him running with his tail between his legs heading the largest NAVY ever he stopped in Chile and told the press something flew so fast it could be in the North Pole in 15 minutes. Out of 3500 men he returned with 2800. This immediatly after WW2.

By George I do believe it’s Flat. Water is the proof. We did some work for DOD. The floor was to be perfectly level for a main frame to sit on 4’ of Concrete poured in layers with 12” of mild steel on top of the concrete then milled to .003. Pad was 300’ x 100’. The first major leveling after laying sand and pouring concrete water was used to determine level. No we were never allowed to see the Gizmo that was set on the form. The last part was boring.

First, I am not a lawyer, nor do I play one on television. There was a lot of discussion about street photography, permissions, etc. IN CANADA, a person's right to privacy supercedes a person's right to make an image. In other words, no, you do NOT have an automatic right to take someone's image without their permission, and if you do they CAN sue you. NB: This has nothing to do with model releases, image use, etc. The violation occurs at the moment you click the shutter, and was decided by a Supreme Court after a photographer made an image of a young woman sitting on a concrete step. This is something that can only be decided by the courts, and there are of course parameters to this. IF you're participating in the Naked Bicycle Parade, you've obviously forsaken your right to privacy. Ditto if you're at a public event. Basically, if you're making an image of a scene - a restaurant patio for example, you'd be fine. However, if you use your 3-600mm lens to photograph a couple having a quiet moment in the back corner, you've violated their privacy and broken the law.

Someone I know who makes images for a newspaper - where candid images are important - has a policy where he will make the image THEN go up to the person, introduce himself and ask if he can use the image. If the person says no, he deletes it then and there.

A lot of folks are saying you need atmospheric refraction to explain these shots. Well without knowing the exact height of the camera and location it's hard to be precise, but: The buildings are part hidden by the surface of the water (check a near shot of the Chicago skyline if you doubt that). Do we see too much of them? Well we can work it out: Chicago has 50 or so buildings taller than 180 meters. Indiana dunes national park's near end is about 46 km (28 miles) from central Chicago, its far end is 59km, (35 miles). The shots are, from the looks of the set up shown at 0:59, being taken about 6 meters (20 feet) off the lake surface.

    • @studentjohn
      @studentjohn 29 днів тому

...so, doing the maths, from the near end of the park about 110 meters of the building should be hidden by the lake surface. From the far end about 200 meters should be hidden. Using Willis tower (visible mid left at 1: 53) as a reference around 100 t0 130 meters is missing. So, while we can't be super precise without knowing the exact height of the camera and the exact spot in the park they were taken from, the skyline looks at least very close to how it should with the expected curve - and it certainly looks nothing like flat.

A very thorough and helpful video. Thank you for posting. However, I think there should be some mention of the vulnerability of the cartridge covers falling open by accident. It is noticeable from the video that shutting the cartridge covers took two attempts and it is easy for them to fall open during the initialisation phase if they are not fully secure. Interruption of the initialisation process can cause many problems so it is worth keeping a couple of pieces of that 'blue tape' to ensure that the cartridge covers stay closed.

If we were to graph a cross-section of the earth, life-size, with our location at the origin and the center below us on the y axis, the center would be at about -4000 miles, or -21,120,000 feet, or 253,440,000 inches, on the y-axis. The equation of this circle would be x^2 + (y + r)^2 = r^2 Solving for y, y = sqrt(r^2 - x^2) - r Chicago is 59 miles from the opposite shore of Lake Michigan. Given the earth’s curvature, it should be 2320 feet below the horizon. How can it be seen? What is the tallest building in Chicago? 1 Willis Tower 1,451 feet tall 2. Trump International Hotel and Tower 1,388 feet tall Can Somebody explain this to me? I honestly don't care about anything else I just wanna know if the earth is flat for sure if earth is flat for sure... then God exists for sure and that means... the end for Lucifer... If you are on a Mac, this happens because macOS sets the printer up as Air Printer. If that's the case, uninstall the printer in the System Settings. Next, add it again, but instead of selecting the printer that it suggests, click on Select Software and manually select ET-8550 from the list. After that it should work. You should not see "AirPrinter" in the model. But if you're on Windows I have no clue.

After Joshua Nowiki photo in 2015 the local news weatherman wrote this off as a mirage. Two weeks later the conditions were the same and someone did a private charter from the dunes location and did a non stop video with city in focus the entire trip and it never refracted nor was it a mirage, they went 51 .miles towards the city as it's about 53 miles from this location. It's flat

@@Mitchell-lc5kj i refer you to he very video we're discussing: it has only images of a lake surface that is acting like it's curved - skyscrapers looking like they're standing in around 100 meters of water., Appearing more deeply hidden from nearer the lake surface, and getting more revealed as the viewpoint climbs (as per endless other vids and images of Chicago from Indiana Dunes park). And consistent across years of time. If it acts like it's curved, we need to make use of the 'curved surface model' to actually do anything on it or help anyone see anything across it - you are welcome to hold the effect to be an illusion, but if you simply deny it's happening you can't help anyone. But i suppose that's not my lookout, so the last word is yours if you want it. I'm happy to let my comments and the video stand.

This is my first exposure to Steve’s work. Lovely stuff. I appreciate his thoughtful approach. The presentation was well though out, and his quotes from others apropos.

I picked up my pre-ordered device yesterday. BEAUTIFUL! I going to buy accessoires for the Fuji X100VI. But I will never buy the peak design anchor. Disgusting. It destroy the harmony of the aesthetic of the camera.

I enjoy watching these videos. But my mind boggles that people can actually afford to do these workshops - maybe if I ever won the lottery!

you need to divide at least 500.000 by 3 as soooo many people have done multiple stores just to see where they get it first

That is most likely a good calculus, but the reports in the industry say what they say. Even divided by three the number is still super high considering output is 15,000 a month. Having once worked for a camera company as a VP, I know where to look and based on what is being reported, this camera could turn out to be the best-selling camera for all time. We will have to see.

@@photoPXL no doubt that it will be the best selling ever … but demand is not as huge as it seemed, I have worked with Fuji and also know the main Fuji people here in Europe and I can get one 1-2 weeks after ordering (still to this day :)

I'm waiting on Sony's answer to this. You have always been able to play with Sony's but yes, the ecosystem isn't as rich...

I think buyers are purchasing to say they have one and will never use the camera. It’s unfortunately an impulse buy for many people who will wear it around and still shoot with their iPhones. Just my two cents.

Kevin. I read your article before coming across this video and your comment about people asking basic questions and maybe they shouldn't be buying the camera. Maybe I fall into that category. I've had to Google some very basic questions on the x100vi. I've not owned a 'proper' dslr camera in over 20 years. I sold the Sony because quite frankly it was a pia having a big camera with a largish lens hung round my neck. It got to the point I despised it. Been using mobile phone cameras for years. Nokia's with Zeiss lenses. Then the Google Nexus / pixels right up to the present day pixel 8 pro. I value the retro look and size of the Fuji and proper viewfinder. What sold me on it totally was the film simulations. Bring able to make digital look analogue without hassle. I have a very small time widow to learn to use the camera before my bucket list holiday and that is if it comes in time. Because of that the first basic question was how to use it in fully auto mode. So am I part of this group that shouldn't be buying it ? Would I be buying the x100vi if the pixel had the same fantastic film simulations...that's the £1600 quid question. It's af won't find my Mrs face in a group and focus on her. It doesn't have wide and telephoto lenses and it wont hold a candle to the pixels astrophotography capabilities.. so why purchase it ?

The X100VI is a really nice camera to work with. But it is a camera you will need to learn. Shooting automatic like you mention is super easy and may be all you need. Just set lens, shutter and ISO to A. AF is good but it does need to be set. The face AF is great and especially if you turn the Eye AF on. There are some good UA-cam videos out there to help you set things up. Good luck and have fun.

Kevin, my first camera was a Konica Auto S2 built in 1965. I bought mine used in 1974. This was a rangefinder camera with a exceptional fixed 45mm lens, ultra quiet Copal leaf shutter, full manual, aperture priority, and shutter priority modes, self timer, I could go on. You never forget your first love and I know you can never go back, but I look at the x100v and vi and think that maybe just maybe I can revisit the past.
